June on Martha’s Vineyard is when the Island truly begins to come alive. What was once considered a quieter month before the peak summer rush is now teeming with special events and celebrations that kick off the season in style.
Longtime favorites like Best of the Vineyard, the Strawberry Festival, and Taste of the Vineyard return each year, bringing together visitors and locals to celebrate the Island’s food, community, and traditions. In recent years, the calendar has grown even more vibrant with Juneteenth celebrations, Pride events, and a variety of cultural gatherings that reflect the rich diversity and spirit of the Vineyard.

Martha’s Vineyard Summer 2026 Save The Date: Festivals, Events And Fun - Summer Is In Full Swing July
July on Martha’s Vineyard is a dreamy summer month. With Edgartown’s iconic Fourth of July parade and fireworks, the Island is officially in full summer mode. The days are warmer, the harbors are full of boats, beaches are full of sun kissed bodies, and restaurants are packed with people enjoying long summer evenings.
This month is filled with some of the season’s most anticipated events, including the Featherstone Gala, the Vineyard Cup Regatta, and the lobster-filled Annual Seafood Buffet. Farm dinners like Meals in the Meadow bring people together to enjoy local food under the open sky. There are so many events to enjoy in July.

Martha’s Vineyard Summer 2026 Save The Date: Festivals, Events And Fun - August Is The Big Event Month
August on Martha’s Vineyard is the BIG event month. The Island is bursting with energy, and the calendar is packed with some of the most anticipated celebrations of the entire year. Two of the biggest August events -- the Ag Fair and the African American Film Festival -- have both moved to the second week of August. Talk about a crazy busy week!
Beloved traditions like Illumination Night light up Oak Bluffs, while the Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Fair returns in its new week due to a change in the rides vendor. The Oak Bluffs Fireworks are always a highlight of the season, drawing crowds to downtown.
August also brings major cultural events like the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival (occuring in its new week), along with comedy festivals, book festivals, dance performances, live music, and countless events happening all across the island.

September brings a change in the rhythm of the Island. It’s still summer on Martha’s Vineyard, with warm days, beautiful ocean breezes, and long golden evenings, but everything feels a little quieter and a little softer.
The busy energy of peak season begins to settle, and while the calendar is lighter, there are still wonderful events and gatherings happening throughout the month. Beaches are less crowded, restaurants are easier to get into, and the Island returns to a more relaxed pace.
