Ah Breakfast, the most important meal of the day they say. So, I guess it’s a good thing that The Newes from America Pub has brought back breakfast.
Actually it’s better than a good thing because there are some really good signature dishes on the menu. What really caught my eye was the Popover Egg Nest, which is a pair of their fresh baked popovers, fried egg, bacon, and spinach, and of course, Newes home fries (served with all dishes).
Something Different To Start the Day
I have a weakness for popovers. I try to sneak one from the Pie in Sky bakery in Woods Hole, when I venture off-Island, because I know they’re always available, and I am yet to discover a place on the Vineyard where I can get them.
This breakfast dish was full of flavor, savory and delicious. One that I will definitely have again. My friend Stefanie ordered the Newes Breakfast, eggs, choice of meat, roasted tomato, baked beans, and choice of toast.
Though Stefanie is gluten-free, they were able to accommodate. The Newes has Udi’s gluten-free bread. This is great news for people who are either gluten intolerant or trying to eliminate this from their diet.
The Newes’ new general manager, Patrick Cabido was there to answer any questions and introduce himself to guests who were enjoying breakfast. He was knowledgeable and friendly, and even offered a challenge. He told us that Stafford’s Pancakes (a special recipe from Kelley House owner, Brad Palmer’s family), were the best around.
Stafford’s Pancakes are served with praline whipped butter, and have a special ingredient that makes them super fluffy and delicious. Knowing this, I think I need to come back with my kiddos and take that challenge. (Thank you Newes Chef Marco Porlles for the great pic).
It’s great to have another option for breakfast in Edgartown, especially one that offers pancakes, and The Newes is one of those places that makes you feel welcome and relaxed, stay a while.
You’ll also find chicken fried steak, Honey Bunches of Oats French Toast, homemade granola and more. An added bonus is the outdoor seating available. Breakfast, sunshine, the sounds of Summer, a wonderful way to enjoy your morning.
