Some of our favorite Martha’s Vineyard businesses are beginning to open their doors for the 2020 season. With each one, we can see what our summer season in this new era will begin to look like. We’re highlighting our local businesses and lifestyle in our new support-the-island drive we’re calling We Love MV – Morning Glory Farm Opens For The Season.
WELCOME BACK! On Tuesday, May 5th, Morning Glory Farm opened its doors for the season. As with every year, this opening is highly anticipated, and marking it on the calendar was a sure way to know that summer is coming.
WE LOVE MV – Morning Glory Farm
Shopping at Morning Glory Farm looks a little different at the moment, but it is definitely still the farm stand we know and love. Just pulling into the parking lot fills my heart with joy.
There are now two lines at the entrance. One is the Express Lane (new this year), where you can get readymade salads, grab-and-go items, and call-in orders, and the other is the General Shop Lane for those who want to shop and fill their baskets/carts. The line area is conveniently marked with posts that are six feet apart for social distancing.
WE LOVE MV – Morning Glory Farm Opens For The Season
Currently, a maximum of 13 people are allowed in at the same time. You are required to use masks and social distance etiquette. There is a new flow to the farm shop and for check out.
With fewer people, it’s easy to find what you need and to check out. There are still delicious baked goods and farm-fresh veggies and more. However, for the best selection, I would go in the morning. When I went at 1:00 p.m., there was no more zucchini bread, which was all my kids could talk about before my trip. However, I did get some scrumptious chocolate chip cookies to pacify them.
WE LOVE MV – Morning Glory Farm Shopping Experience
The farm has lots of goodies on its shelves, fresh greens, farm fresh eggs, organic goodies and more, with more available as the season advances into summer. Also, the staff was so friendly and I felt very welcomed. It was a great experience. So nice to be back!
There are special hours for senior shoppers from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. The farm stand is open until 5:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday for the spring. As a sign of the times, the farm stand closes at 1:30 p.m. each day briefly for restocking and sanitizing.
