We’d like to thank Leslie Floyd for bringing her family’s special family of bears to the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite this year. Their “Three Bears” were literally out of the fairy tale, with a momma bear, a pappa bear and baby bear. The three cuddly grizzly bears were a big crowd hit at this year’s Teddy Bear Suite fundraiser.
And with a nod to the Goldilocks story, it turns out the Floyds’ three bears were the mascots for grandmother Patricia’s Vermont cereal company, named — what else — The Three Bears. And you guessed it, The Three Bears company became well known for its popular porridge “Vermont Morning” — really.
Grandma sold the company a few years back but the rest of the Floyds insisted they keep The Three Bears. By the way, Vermont Morning cereal is still around and a popular hot cereal.
So, a special thank you to the Floyds (both daughter Leslie and mother Ann, who are both real estate agents here on Martha’s Vineyard) for providing the first set of visiting bears to the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite. We think this is such a fun idea, that we ‘re going to invite nominations for a group of visiting bears each year going forward.
If you’d like to have your bears considered, drop us a line here on our blog or Point B Facebook Page. Send us some pictures, and let us know your bears’ special story and why you think they’d be a good fit for next year’s Teddy Bear Suite.
