Ah, winter has finally wrapped its cold arms around Martha’s Vineyard, and that means that a number of businesses have closed their doors until spring (now also including Cafe Moxie). But a pleasant surprise has come to Vineyard Haven.
Tisberry launched its lunch menu in December, and let me tell you, it’s an asset to the Island. Especially with the New Year, people want healthier options, and Tisberry serves it up. They offer soups, salads, smoothies, fro yo, parfaits, and even coffee and tea.
At Tisberry, you can make your own custom chopped salad, which I love. You start with organic greens. There are five different options including romaine, mesclun mix, spinach, kale, and arugula. I think this is the only organic salad bar on the Island.
You can choose grilled chicken, hard boiled egg, turkey, tofu, or ham. You can satisfy a herbivore or a carnivore with all these options.
Maybe fruit too? Pomegranate seeds sound like an interesting addition (one of owner Eric Johnson’s favs). Let’s not forget about cheese — cheese makes everything better, and there are six to choose from.
You’d have to go there everyday for a year to have the same salad twice! I feel like Tisberry is filling a gap that’s missing — fast, healthy eats made to your liking. Salads start at $7.99.
Let’s talk soup. There are usually three soup options at Tisberry, including vegetarian and gluten free options. Once again, healthy delicious lunch options. The soups are hearty and warm you up on these chilly days.
You can get bread with them too, which I like. One of the most popular is the Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya. It is delish! I tried the carrot ginger artichoke, yes artichoke, it was really good and hearty for a vegetarian soup.
Look for the Tisberry sign to see what each days’ soup options are. You can also do a soup and salad combo starting at $9.99. A little soup and salad. perfect!
Let’s not forget to mention that you can get “Green Smoothies” that are jam packed with healthy ingredients or “No Junk Smoothies” which have no ice, no sugar, and no mixes. They’re all under $10 which is a great deal for the Vineyard I think.
How about coconut with peanut butter cups and cookie dough? I know, not so healthy, but so bad it’s good!
There is seating available inside Tisberry so you can meet a friend there for a bite or take it to go. Have fun with all the great options and then bask in the deliciousness of your creations!
