We hear a lot about local food and farm-to-table these days. Here on Martha’s Vineyard alone, there are dozens of farms, producing all kinds of fresh goodies. But this is the Vineyard after all, and not only do we have a bounty of agriculture, we also have a bounty of aquaculture.
The oyster farmers of Martha’s Vineyard and their delicious harvest are now in high demand from the island to big city restaurants. Cottage City Oysters has answered that demand and oyster interest, with their own twist on ocean-to-table.
You go behind-the-scenes, out to the farm, on the water, and experience oysters first hand at their oyster farm. Our own Guinevere Cramer jumped on board to join the experience.
Brothers Dan and Greg Martino, the farmer/owners of Cottage City Oysters, are the only Martha’s Vineyard oyster farmers with an open ocean farm, located just off East Chop in Oak Bluffs, on the outer edges of Vineyard Haven Harbor.
With this unique eco-tour, education never looked or tasted quite so good, and it has landed the Martino brothers and their Cottage City Oyster farm tour onto our Vineyard Bucket List. It’s an essential, must-do, new, one-of-a-kind experience.
You’ll see Martha’s Vineyard from the water, learn a lot about oysters, taste oysters as fresh as it gets, and you’re invited to bring your own beverages. A true farm-to-table experience you’ll never forget!
