The Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Fundraiser Passes $29,000 – Goal is $45,000 In Fight Against Childhood Hunger

Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Fundraiser Has Raised $29,000 So Far – The annual holiday fundraiser supports the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club Healthy Hunger Kids program.

This vital program is already having a substantial impact on childhood hunger and food insecurity on the Vineyard. H2K now feeds one in three kindergarten thru eighth-grade students, substantial snacks and meals each day after school.

Teddy Bear Suite $45,000 Goal

Coming into its eighth year, the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Fundraiser, has raised $126,000 for the Boys & Girls Club After School programs. This year’s goal is $45,000, which would cover the entire cost of the H2K food program.

Healthy Happy Kids Food Program

Many of the children who attend the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club after school are on free or reduced lunch at their school. When they come to the Club, they are happy to have the chance to eat a substantial, healthy snack – for free.

Childhood hunger and food scarcity are serious problems on Martha’s Vineyard, and unfortunately there are so many children who are impacted by this. We all know how expensive it is to live on the Island, and just surviving can be a struggle for many.

Healthy Happy Kids is an important part of the school day for so many children. When you ask them what they like about the Club. For many, they say the food first, followed by the gym, art, and of course homework club.

Knowing that they can eat when they’re hungry is a great feeling. H2K has had a positive effect on the after school at the Club as a whole. Full bellies help kids be happier, have more focus, enjoy their time with friends and play. Before H2K, there were noticeable behavior issues, and now things are definitely improved.

Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Fundraiser

The Club has come to rely on the monies raised through the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Fundraiser. As of last year, we have committed to try to raise enough money to underwrite this vital program in its entirety.

This year, with your help, we are working to raise $45,000 for H2K. The Teddy Bear Suite has raised $29,000 as of today, with $16,000 still needed.

$50 feeds 25 children for one day

$100 feeds 50 children for one day

$200 feeds all the children for one day

$1,000 feeds one child from September to June

Having H2K funded allows for the Club to feel secure with its commitment to keeping so many children fed throughout the school year. It allows them to work to raise additional money for staff and other programs, and much needed building repairs.
