Top 5 Things To Do In May On Martha’s Vineyard: Sheepapolooza!
Sheepaplooza is happening on Saturday, May 4th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.! This is an event that has grown in popularity over the years and is fun for all ages!
Join The FARM Institute out in Katma, as they welcome Spring on the farm by preparing their flock of fuzzy, adorable Island sheep for the warmer weather with a shearing. You can watch the process of “sheep to sweater” as the wool is carded and cleaned, and spinners weave some magic with the wool.
There are also fun fiber activities for the whole family. Don’t forget to check out the baby lambs, and one of my favorite things, hop on a farm wagon ride out to the pastures! The Art Cliff Truck will be there serving up delicious bites, and you may also want to check out the FARM stand for eggs or farm fresh meat. The Harbor View Hotel in Edgartown opens to the public on May 2nd, after a multi-million dollar facelift throughout, and that means their new restaurants, Roxanna (formerly Henry’s) and Bettini (formerly the Lighthouse Grill) will be open too!
Stop by and see all the changes and be prepared for your palette to be delighted with Chef Patrice Martineau’s menu. Bettini’s fresh take on Vineyard style sets the stage for chef-inspired menus that showcase the season’s freshest offerings from local farms, fishing boats, foragers and markets. Bettini is open for breakfast and dinner daily and Sunday brunch
I am particularly excited to see Roxana’s new space. Henry’s was a personal favorite of mine, so this reveal is kind of a big deal. The menu is inspired by international tapas and craft cocktails. Also, it’s rumored that the glassware for the cocktails is sure to wow guests. Roxana Bar is open for lunch and dinner daily.

Morning Glory Farm opens on Friday and this is a BIG deal for Islanders. From fresh produce to zucchini Bread, to the salad bar, to flowers. Morning Glory Farm is always one of our favorite places!

Bad Martha Farmer’s Brewery in Edgartown opens on Friday, May 3rd! Hours for opening weekend are Friday, 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
General manager, Josh Flanders is most excited for Belgian Quad hitting the taps, which has been aging and conditioning over the winter. It’s a strong ale at 9%, but its aging has mellowed the flavor. Also stay tuned for other beers being released like the intriguing Snake Charmer NEIPA and Coffee Porter!
Warmer weather means beer garden weather. A little corn hole or ring toss in the late day Spring sun sounds amazing right about now, and of course we’re excited to sample new Bad Martha beers and old favorites too!
Top 5 Things To Do In May On Martha’s Vineyard: Hats Required
It’s the weekend of the Kentucky Derby, and we love a reason to get dressed up and don a fabulous hat! Most bars/restaurants on the Island will have the race on and will be serving up Mint Juleps, but there are also Kentucky Derby parties on the calendar.
Alchemy and 19 Raw are two places that we know are planning to go all out for the “Run for the Roses.” Alchemy is opening early at 5:00 p.m. with specialty cocktails and menu items. Attendees are encouraged to wear the hats and dress for the fun. 19 Raw is has a contest – the best hat or person decked out the best derby gear will win at $100 gift card to the restaurant
