Driving up on State Road, you might catch a glimpse of Frankie’s Flatbreads Food Truck. This bright blue food truck is nestled behind The Larder. The newest food truck on Martha’s Vineyard just might surprise you.
Frankies Flatbreads offers food that is really, really good for you. Founder Ky Keenan, from Not Your Sugar Mamas, uses the best ingredients. Look for items from The Grey Barn, North Tabor Farm, and Martha’s Vineyard Mycological (MVM), and of course Ky’s signature plant-based cheeses, just to name a couple.
Frankie’s Flatbreads Food Truck Serves Eat Nude Plant-Based Food
Frankie’s is “Food in the Nude.” The flatbreads are organic, plant-based, gluten-free, nutrient-dense, paleo-friendly, and delicious. Ky was serving up flatbreads at the Not Your Sugar Mamas Cafe in Vineyard Haven. These were always one of the most popular menu items, satisfying even the most hungry of customers, all while being plant-based.
At the food truck, you can enjoy your flatbreads there or take them to go. There are tables for enjoying your healthy meal. I ordered the Baja Shroom, MVM marinated shiitake mushrooms, marinated in smoked paprika, and coconut aminos with housemade Baja sauce, red cabbage and cucumber.
It was so delicious! The flavors were rich and the Baja sauce added a little zing to each bite. The crust is so flavorful too. It’s hard to believe that something so tasty is so good for you. There are other flatbreads to choose from like the BLT or Pesto Please. So many of them sound delicious.
Frankie’s might not sound like it’s for everyone, but I am guessing if you try these flatbreads, you might become a follower. Ky’s has a talent for making plant-based food really amazing! I am a believer. I never thought cashew cheese could be so tasty!
Frankie’s Flatbreads Food Truck On The Road
One day while at NYSM, the owner of Neapolitan Express food trucks, Max Crespo, was talking with Ky. He knew her flatbreads needed to be enjoyed by a larger audience. Conveniently enough, his food truck vision, originally launched in 2013 as the world’s first Eco-Friendly Food Truck, hit home with Ky’s vision as well.
With Max’s help, Ky has the financial backing to make Frankie’s Flatbreads a reality for Martha’s Vineyard and New York City. The plan is to have a Frankie’s on Martha’s Vineyard for the Summer and be based in Brooklyn and NYC the rest of the year with more eco-friendly food trucks, a central kitchen, and a small brick and mortar shop in the future.
With Frankie’s Flatbreads, Ky hopes to bring her message of clean eating and doing good for the planet to a so much broader audience. It truly is amazing how good plant-based food can be! Also, in case you were wondering, Frankie is Ky’s daughter, and she’s a big inspiration for the good Ky is doing.
The Blue Truck will be available every day for lunch, 11 am – 3 pm until Labor Day. Be sure to keep an eye out for their sign outside of The Larder. Also, Frankie’s Flatbreads will be at the Beach Road Festival, and catering is an option too!
