By just the sign alone, you can tell that North Tisbury Farm & Market is going to be amazing. The simplicity and elegance of it carries inside.
When you first walk in, your eyes are drawn to the counter and the bounty of bread and delicious looking pastries behind. There’s a great selection of fresh baked goods from Pain D’Avignon, but be warned, the croissants sell out quickly.
After you break your stare (a sucker for delicious bread and such), there are goodies to discover everywhere you look. To the right, you’ll find a case with the most beautiful yogurt you’ve ever seen, Not Your Sugar Mamas cheeses and sides, other local favorites and more.
What you’ll also find around lunch are Not Your Sugar Mamas salads. These too sell out daily. The convenience of grab and go, and being super healthy, make these ideal for Islanders and visitors alike. They were already gone when I stopped by.
To the left, brace yourself and know that you can get lost in discovering all the unique, small batch food items. Owner Rose Willett believes in offering local and regional whenever possible, and luckily, there are so many amazing farms on the Martha’s Vineyard and in New England, she is able to offer really great, special things.
From cheeses, Rose is a self-described cheese nerd, to maple syrup, to crackers to snacks, to produce, there are fun finds throughout. How about really cool gluten free flavored waffle cones? With really good ice cream to fill them too!
Oh there’s even ready to go cocktails/mocktails — just add your spirit of choice and you’re ready.
This is a Summer mantra “there’s nothing for dinner” for so many people. We’re so busy working or beaching, that meals can be an afterthought. No problem, stop by. North Tisbury Farm & Market has you covered. There’s pasta, sauces, an antipasto bar, meat from Jefferson Monroe’s The Good Farm, and so much more.
Something that is truly unique and makes this place extra special will be happening soon. The gardens behind the market have been planted with all sorts of great veggies, herbs, and flowers.
The plan is to have everything that’s available from the farm listed on the blackboard above the produce area. You see what’s there, figure out what you need, and it will be harvested for you. No refrigeration, no plastic, no spoiling, it’s like it came from your garden. How lovely is this? How Vineyard is this?
Nothing to bring to the beach? How about staples like chips, or chips and salsa with guac. Need to entertain or bring something fabulous to a potluck? Rose will create a charcuterie board for you. And from the collection of cheeses and meats she has, it’s sure to be unforgettable.
Of course there is coffee, but not just any coffee. Chilmark Coffee has created a special dark roast just for North Tisbury Farm & Market. Something that really made me smile was the plant based straws that they offer. This is a great find and I hope other Island businesses get these as well, if they’re not part of Straw Free MV.
You can also enjoy your coffee or bite to eat outside. There’s a collection of Adirondack chairs that are calling your name. Relax a bit, it’s Summer time.
I could go on and on about North Tisbury Farm & Market, and all the fun things to discover, but you should experience it yourself. Such a great addition to Up-Island. I wish there was something magical like this in Oak Bluffs.
Author’s Note: Lunch tip. I got a beautiful sheep’s cheese with truffle and a mini $3 loaf of bread for lunch. Simple and delicious.
