The annual dance for the coveted advance car ferry reservations to Martha’s Vineyard for the peak summer months is underway.
Beginning this morning, the Steamship Authority is now taking reservations for May 14 through October 14, 2014. Don’t be surprised if the website is a little slow.
Online traffic is always busy on day one, as both Martha’s Vineyard vacation home renters and Vineyard homeowners try to snap up their ideal car ferry reservation time slots.
“Even if your preferred time is not available, we advise our Martha’s Vineyard rental customers to go ahead and book the closest reservation time they can,” said Point B Realty Principal Broker / Owner Wendy Harman. “Then put your name on the wait list for more preferred times.”
Harman noted that every year, there is a lot of movement between now and the summer for the car reservation time slots, and that most people end up with a time that works out.
The Steamship Authority allows up to five one-way or round-trip transactions per online visit. Click here to make reservations.
One week from today, on January 21st, the Steamship Authority begins accepting car reservations by phone and walk-in as well.
Advance passenger ferry reservations to Martha’s Vineyard are not needed.
