The annual Best of the Vineyard competition from Martha’s Vineyard Magazine is now underway! With less than two weeks to go, now is the time to vote for your favorite Martha’s Vineyard events, activities, businesses, and more!  

Voting is open through April 6th at 11:59 pm EST and to help inspire you and your picks we’re sharing several favorites from our team. So have a read and head on over to the voting website where you must vote in at least 10 categories in order for your votes to be counted. And if you need to change your entries, no worries, you may modify your ballot at any time prior to the end of voting!

For the last 13 years, we have worked hard to create this special holiday event and have raised $425,000 for Food Security programs for the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club. The money goes to directly support the MV Boys & Girls Club and their transformative afterschool food programs that support hundreds of Island children and families.   • Lucy Vincent Beach. This Chilmark gem is a favorite of our Director of Sales Client Services Gerrick Svitzer, Vice President of Operations Win Baker, and Reservations Manager Susan Harman Bass.
  • Moshup Beach. A favorite of Real Estate Consultant Carson Crissman, who especially loves it for the fishing. 
  • Norton Point. One of the only beaches that allow for oversand access is the top pick for Senior Vice President Jennifer B. DaSilva, Real Estate Consultant Erin Hegarty, and Senior Associate Erin Leighton Huckins.

Martha’s Vineyard is home to two hundred-plus miles of trails and acres and acres of conservation land that make for ultimate outdoor exploration. When it comes to Best Nature Walk our team is hard-pressed to choose between all of our picturesque trails, but the ones that lead to the beach are our favorites! A few personal picks include:

  • Long Point Wildlife Refuge according to Wendy Harman, Gerrick Svitzer, and Judy Rogers. We love it for kayaking too!
  • The Brickyard at Menemsha Hills is a favorite among Carson Crissman and Andrew Noble. 
  • Great Rock Bight is a favorite of Jennifer Dasilva and Erin Leighton Huckins.
  • Blackwater Pond, located off of Lambert’s Cove Road in West Tisbury is the go-to place to explore for Valerie Hart and David Dickinson.

When all of that beach time and trail walking has us hungry we love to sink our teeth into the Island’s tastiest lobster rolls! A highly contested category of Best of the Vineyard, the Best Lobster Roll on Martha’s Vineyard is not an easy call to make!

When we asked our team where they went to satisfy their seafood sandwich craving here were the top picks for best lobster roll.

  • Look Out Tavern. This Oak Bluffs outpost reopens for the season on April 1st and is a go-to for many, offering a Jumbo Tavern Lobster Roll that can be served hot or cold, on a buttered and grilled brioche roll. 
  • Grace Church. For many summer residents, the first stop when getting off the ferry on Fridays is to head to Grace Church in Vineyard Haven for their famous lobster rolls, known for being big and meaty. As the Church’s major fundraising initiative, they begin serving up their weekly lobster rolls in mid-May and run to Labor Day with an all-volunteer crew, many of whom have been slinging lobster rolls for years.
  • The Menemsha Galley. This famous, friendly, and family-owned eatery has been a Menemsha mainstay for over 70 years and their lobster rolls are a fan favorite.
  • Larsen’s Fish Market. Since 1969 Larsen’s has been treating Menemsha visitors to their iconic lobster rolls, which are easy to take to-go to enjoy on the sand at nearby Menemsha Public Beach. 

Other locations that top the lists of the Best of the Vineyard Food and Drink categories include Beach Road, Jimmy Seas, 19 Raw, Atria, Covington, The Newes, Outermost Inn, Red Cat Kitchen, and Chilmark Tavern.
