Seasonal Spring Re-Openings We’re Excited For on Martha’s Vineyard – Dining

As the summer season approaches, foodies on Martha’s Vineyard eagerly await the re-opening of their favorite restaurants. From fresh seafood to farm-to-table cuisine, the island’s culinary scene is a major draw for visitors and locals alike. Here are some of our favorite restaurants that will be opening their doors soon:

19 Raw in Edgartown: As of April 1st, this incredible raw bar and steakhouse is open 7 days a week. Not only do they have an unbeatable selection of dishes from their premium steaks to their local seafoods, they are also offering private event raw bars and a new private dining space! 

Among The Flowers in Edgartown – On April 29th, this quaint MV cafe will be reopening with plenty of beautiful spring flowers and delicious breakfast and lunch choices. 

Rosewater Spirits in Edgartown – Since April 1st, Rosewater Wine and Spirits has opened its doors for another season on Main Street.

The Atlantic in Edgartown – The season is finally here to dine waterside on the Edgartown Harbor. Open as of April 1st, enjoy a spring day on the patio and get excited for the summer! 

Detente in Edgartown – On May 5th, get ready to enjoy fine dining once again at Detente in Nevin Square, just steps away from our office.

L’etoile in Edgartown – Reopening May 18th, we can’t wait to enjoy chef/owner Michael Brisson’s decadent dishes once again, just steps from the Point B office in Nevin Square!

Fish MV in Vineyard Haven – Reopening in early May, this restaurant is only a few years old and combines poke bowls and delicious tacos, with freshly made cocktails. New this year, you can order a cocktail and hang out on their deck without ordering food! 

Attic at Waterside – Above Waterside Market (formerly La Soffitta) and located right beside Fish MV on Main Street in Vineyard Haven will be this brand new restaurant opening for summer 2023! Attic at Waterside is expected to offer an elevated tavern-style restaurant menu in a modern, Prohibition-era dining room. We can’t wait to check out this new spot form the owners of Waterside and Fish!

The Black Dog Cafe in Vineyard Haven – This cafe underwent renovations for most of the winter months, and we’re excited to see what has changed! They reopened in April

Noman’s in Oak Bluffs – They will be opening for their fifth season in May, follow them on Instagram to see when they announce the exact date. 

Nancy’s in Oak Bluffs – Similarly to Nomans, Nancy’s will be opening for the season in ]May but has not given an exact date yet. We can’t wait for sunset views of the OB harbor and harborside seafood upon their reopening! 

Chilmark Tavern in Chilmark – On May 18th the Chilmark Tavern will be reopening, and to make sure you get your desired date to dine at this up-island eatery, reservations will be open starting in late April! 

Aquila MV in Aquinnah – For all you coffee lovers and up-island beachgoers, we know you’re anxiously awaiting the reopening of Aquila! They reopened in April and we can’t wait to check out what they’re offering this season! They recently opened a new storefront at the YMCA and won the Pitch Perfect contest hosted by the MV Chamber, so we’re sure their opening in Aquinnah will be just as amazing as they are!

Other favorites that are reopening soon but have yet to announce dates include Vintage Wine & Spirits, and l’etoile in Edgartown, Aalia’s Coffee in Oak Bluffs (which is rumored to have another half called Aalia’s PM we can’t wait to check out), Garde East in Vineyard Haven, and the Outermost Inn up island.

For those with a sweet tooth, the seasonal reopening of dessert shops on Martha’s Vineyard is a cause for celebration. From homemade ice cream to freshly baked pastries, these charming establishments offer a delectable taste of the island’s culinary delights.

Mad Martha’s – Reopening May 5, for all you ice cream lovers, it’s never too early in the season for ice cream! They have a location in each down-island town and delicious homemade ice cream for everyone!

Murdick’s Fudge – Your favorite island fudge shop is Now open in Edgartown, with their Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs outpost following in May. Follow them on Instagram to be the first one to enjoy their ridiculously good fudge this season when they open their doors.

Enchanted Chocolates – they’ve been open weekends and holidays during the winter, but will soon get back to their daily schedule in Oak Bluffs, where you can find their delicious popular almond butter crunch.

Backdoor Donuts – The Island’s favorite donut shop is now open by day, and night. Check out the front side of the bakery by day and after 7 pm head to the back door for their famous apple fritters! They were busy on the mainland this winter, as they opened a pop-up bakery out of Loretta’s Last Call on Fenway Park’s historic Lansdowne Street.

Slate in Edgartown – You can now shop Slate’s beautiful and bright spring collection on North Summer Street! And don’t forget to check out their Boston location next time you visit the city!

Backwater Trading in Edgartown – This amazing active Vineyard lifestyle store was kind enough to open on St Patrick’s Day, and is open all spring a few days a week.

Trust in Vineyard Haven – This boho-inspired beauty is back open starting April 1; shop their clothing, apothecary, local jewelry, and more this spring!

Martha’s Vineyard Made in Vineyard Haven – Like many stores, they just opened in early April and are now one of our favorite spots to look for products that are handmade by local island artists!

Flying Horses in Oak Bluffs – Open as of April 8th, everyone’s favorite and oldest carousel will be open to visitors for the season! 

Island Spirit Kayak in Oak Bluffs – Starting April 15th, you can get out on the water. Don’t let the spring temperatures scare you, this is a beautiful time of year to kayak or paddle board in some of the island ponds that are overcrowded or inaccessible during the summer months. 

Oyster Farm Tours in Oak Bluffs – Cottage City Oyster Farm tours start up again on weekends in May. We can’t think of a better way to experience the island’s culture, try fresh local seafood, and get outdoors! Check out our recent blog post on oyster farming on Martha’s Vineyard.

    When on the vineyard, we always looked forward to a meal at “The Newes”. Is it still there and will it be open by May 11, 2023?

    1. Hi Sheila, we haven’t heard any updates on that specifically yet as the whole property is under renovations, but we’ll let you know if we find out!
