WE LOVE MV: Experiencing Martha’s Vineyard Aboard The Vintage Luxury Yacht Alewife – Meet The Captain
Captain Scott Morgan has wanted to share his love of boats and Edgartown with people for a number of years. Finally, the right boat found him. He named his boat after one that he remembers fondly from his childhood. In the 1980’s the Alewife would moor in Edgartown Harbor. It was the largest boat at that time, and the owners would let children come aboard. Scott will always remember that boat and now he’s paying homage with his own, beautiful Alewife (Ale-Wife).

The Alewife is a pleasure boat, and offers vintage luxury, and personalized service from a talented crew dedicated to making your waterfront experience a memorable one. You begin by choosing your sail. There are four to options: Lunch Cruise, Dinner Cruise, Lighthouse Tour or you can design your very own.
Each experience is paired with gourmet food selections from Little Rock Farm, and if you prefer, beverages can also be provided. For our cruise, we chose an Edgartown Harbor tour with beverages and light hors d’oeuvres. It was an intimate way to pause and spend some time together with the incredible backdrop of Edgartown Harbor.

We boarded the Alewife at Memorial Wharf and were greeted warmly by the crew. Soon we had a glass of wine in hand, while sitting in comfort on the stern of the boat. It is such a wonderful experience — relaxing, motoring through the harbor. Taking the time to enjoy the beautiful homes that pepper the shoreline, sailing past the boats, the Chappy Beach Club, the Edgartown Lighthouse and more.
Soon after we set sail, we were treated to lovely, delicious passed hors d’oeuvres and a fabulous charcuterie assortment. The crew was there to refill drinks when necessary and answer questions we had while underway. Don’t forget to head up to the bow of the boat. Here, the wind is in your hair and the open water seems teeming with endless possibilities.
There is so much to take in and enjoy in the harbor. Sailing about on a pleasure boat like the Alewife offers a smooth sail with vintage luxury touches. It is a boat that has a history and is writing its next chapter with Captain Morgan and all the joy it brings to those who board her.
