The 5th annual MV Wine Festival is only a couple of weeks away. This four day Spring wine festival celebrates amazing food, and an incomparable selection of curated wines and cocktails, all on the beautiful Island of Martha’s Vineyard.
This year, the marquee wine festival kicks off on May 11th, and it features even more events to satisfy and entertain both the most knowledgeable wine connoisseur and the novice.
Point B Realty is proud to be a sponsor of this year’s MV Wine Festival, and we’re highlighting our top picks for the wine festival.
Dan and Greg Martino, the owners of Cottage City Oysters farm, take you on a tour of their farm on their Boston Whaler, from the Lagoon Hatchery to the farm’s up wheelers, which are located near Eastville Beach in Vineyard Haven.
Dan and Greg are passionate about their oysters, and they are great to go on an adventure with. You can learn more about them by checking out: Cottage City Oysters: Oak Bluff’s First Oyster Farm Is More Than Delicious Bivalves On Martha’s Vineyard
Not only will you learn about aquaculture on Martha’s Vineyard, but you’ll be able to enjoy the freshest oysters possible, right from the water. The Cottage City Oysters will be paired with Proud Pour’s, The Oyster. This beautiful, vibrant Sauvignon Blanc is well named since each bottle restores 100 oysters back to the wild, making this not only a wine to enjoy, but also a wine that betters our local waters.

The MV Wine Fest offers a number of unforgettable wine dinners in some of the most amazing private homes in Edgartown.
On Friday night, you’ll find me at the Luminary Farm Dinner. Guests will sample reserve and exclusive vintages from Duckhorn, Silver Oak, and Rombauer vintners. These wines have been carefully selected to offer a truly special wine experience, from some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon producers in Napa.
By the way, the owners of Point B will be hosting this marquee red wine event at their brand new Edagrtown home. I’ve had a preview, and it will make a great venue for this special evening.
In addition to the exclusive wines that you’ll be able to experience, there will be food, and not just any food. The wines will be paired with a menu carefully crafted by chef Matthew O’Neil of The Blue Ox.
Matthew is an award winning chef, as is his restaurant, The Blue Ox, located on the North Shore, outside of Boston. Why is Matthew coming the Martha’s Vineyard you might wonder? Well he began his culinary career at the one and only Vineyard Golf Club. So, he has history and a deep love of the Island.
After looking at The Blue Ox’s menu, I have to say that I am looking forward to sampling his food.

By the way, for red wine connoisseurs, cult wine favorite, William Cole, has just been added to wine dinner series as well. The owner and wine maker himself, Bill Ballentine will be on hand, to lead the tastings of his spectacular Cabernet Sauvignon — arguably some of the best in the world. Point B will be hosting this special event as well. Tickets and details.
This is always my one of my favorite events. Located in the heart of Edgartown, on the grounds of the historic Kelley House, over 400 wineries bring you their best wines, spirits, and more.
Get ready to take your palette on an adventure. This four hour Saturday event, allows you the opportunity to really explore new wines, and meet many of their makers and purveyors. Browse, sample and savor, discovering new beverages to delight.
Also, there is a silent auction this year, with 100% of the proceeds going to the festival’s non-profit partner, the Martha’s Vineyard High School Culinary Department, helping to celebrate our future chefs and sommeliers.
I always leave this event inspired and so much more knowledgeable of wine, which is good thing in my world.

However, before you get all dressed to impress for the Grand Tasting, you might want to think about lunch, and there is one event that is right up my alley, Burgers & Bubbles.
Sip on Veuve Clicquot Champagne and sample burgers from three chefs, competing to present you with the best burger. The chefs joining in the fun are Gavin Smith of Food Minded Fellow, Ralston Francis of The Edgartown Diner, and Dan Whalen of The Food in My Beard.
I bet these three chefs are going to create unforgettable burgers that you’ll enjoy at an unforgettable location, the Martha’s Vineyard Museum.
In addition to Veuve and burgers, Cottage City Oysters will host a raw bar, offering some of the best oysters Martha’s Vineyard has to offer.
It’s almost as if this event was made for me — thank you MV Wine Fest!

There you have it, our top picks for the 5th Annual MV Wine Fest. This signature Martha’s Vineyard wine and food event continues to grow and delight savvy and novice wine enthusiasts alike, and just think, there are so many other events in addition to the ones I mentioned, including Real Men Drink Pink, Art of the Cocktail, and more.
