Copper Wok Opens In Vineyard Haven – Martha’s Vineyard’s Newest Restaurant Is An Oasis of Beauty

Copper Wok Pan Asian & Sushi House Martha's Vineyard Newest Restaurant Vineyard Haven DiningAfter a year of waiting, it’s finally open, well almost open — Copper Wok, Pan Asian & Sushi House, and it does not disappoint. Copper Wok is visual treat for Islanders.

Soon as you walk through the door, the warm wood and colors envelop you like your favorite blanket. It is a beautiful space, and my photos don’t come close to capturing the beauty.

The Asian theme is found all throughout the restaurant, but it has been done tastefully. It’s not garish or gimmicky at all. So much time and thought was put into every nook and cranny of this restaurant.

Copper Wok Community Bar Martha's Vineyard Chinese Food SushiThe S-shaped community table is fabulous. I love that you can have the option to be social and sit here or if you’re feeling private, you can sit at a table.

I have to go back to the community table though. It really helps give the space a little something extra. It’s inviting and unique, something different for the Island.

The Bar

Copper Wok Sushi Bar Vineyard Haven RestaurantsCopper Wok has a large bar area. It’s in the same spot when it was Zephrus, but it is so different. It’s one part sushi bar, where you can sit and watch the chefs create sushi masterpieces, and it’s part regular bar, where you can watch the magical Sake drinks being made and chat up the bartenders.

The drink menu at the opening parties had some fun options, but it’s just the beginning. There are many more drinks to be added to the list, according to bartender extraordinaire, Zenon.

So far, the hit cocktail has been the Wok of Shame according to the bartenders. The Wok of Shame has Sake, pineapple juice, cranberry juice, and OJ.

Though I have to say the Buddha Berry Cosmo also sounds good, with its combo of Sake, blueberry puree, agave, fresh lemon, and a touch of Falernum sweet syrup. How great is it to be able to say cocktail when referring to a restaurant in Vineyard Haven?

The Porch

Copper Wok Light-Filled New Porch Martha's Vineyard RestaurantsWowza! I love this space. You feel so close to the street but yet still feel as though you’re sitting in the restaurant. Once again, it’s the attention to details. From the heating lamps to the lighting, it feels so cohesive and welcoming.

People watching here is going to be a hit especially in the summer when it stays light out for so long. Also, there’s so much light that comes into the bar area from this space.

So, part of the restaurant has great natural light, and the other part is warmer and cozier — you’ve got options depending on your mood, and this girl likes options.

Copper Wok - Vineyard Haven's Newest RestaurantSo, I am yet to officially dine at Copper Wok. I had to work the weekend of the opening parties, which raised over $8,000 for the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club, but I was able to sneak a peak for a couple of minutes.

People were really enjoying the food and drinks. The crispy wontons, the edamame, the house-made plum sauce, the sushi rolls, the Asian wings, fried rice and more.

You won’t find any food pics in this blog because the food from the open parties may be a little different in presentation next time you see it. However, I can tell you this — JB is partial to the boneless spareribs.

When I go to Copper Wok for dinner next week, I’ll give you the full scoop. I like to wait a bit before going to a new spot. I can imagine it’s going to be a crazy week for them.

Copper Wok opens for dinner at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12. From then on, it will be open seven nights a week.

The menu will be up on the website, Copper Wok MV. Takeout and lunch will be available in about a month or so. Spring rolls for the Spring in Vineyard Haven — I like it.

I have to really give JB Blau, chef Alex Nagi and their whole team a serious thumbs up. They turned this confused, unwelcoming space into a restaurant you want to spend time in. It has an identity and feels so natural.

It’s really quite remarkable. I am glad that they took their time, and did it right. If the food is as good as the decor — it will be the hottest restaurant of the year.
