Spring fever has kicked in. It’s school vacation week and it seems as though more than half the Island is someplace warm. However if you staying put, let’s talk about some dining deals because you know you want to be out of the house as much as possible.
This is our second Frugal Foodie Guide, and we’re hitting the town, to see what the restaurants in Oak Bluffs have to offer.
Slice of Life
On the upper end of Circuit Avenue, this quaint restaurant always delivers yummy food. Open Tuesdaythru Saturday, Slice offers both lunch and dinner.
Starting this week, Slice of Life is offering a little incentive for people to have lunch there. They are introducing a new lunch menu that includes a lunch and a soda for just $10. Seriously, $10 is a steal for the Island.
How about their Mac and Cheese as well as a few of their regular lunch menu items? They will all come with a soft drink, sandwiches with cole slaw or chips.
My personal fav at Slice is their Portabella Sandwich. Something about the shaved parm and the balsamic dressing on ciabatta with those big crispy fries. Yummy!
Don’t forget that Slice also has a lunch “punch” card which means that if you buy five lunches, you get the sixth one free. Anyway you “Slice” it, it’s a great deal.
Offshore Ale Co
For over a decade now, Offshore Ale’s 2-for-1 Monday has been a favorite of Islanders and visitors alike. On a Monday night, this place is packed, and worth the wait for a table. With pretty much — well everything — part of the deal, you can satisfy almost everyone’s craving.
Whether it’s one of Offshore Ale’s award-winning burgers customized by you, the beloved Pub Salad, the light and crispy beer battered fish and chips, or even a pizza, you can find it here.
Don’t forget to sample the beer too. If the Islander is on tap, I highly recommend you try it.
This deal starts in the late fall, and will continue until March 31st. There is something about this night and this location — it’s just plain fun.
Also Offshore has a lunch punch card as well. Buy five lunches and get the sixth one free. Offshore re-opens on Thursday, after making some floor repairs this week.
Lunch is definnitely where it’s at for Frugal Foodies in Oak Bluffs!
Since February 22nd was National Margarita Day, which is a reason to celebrate, Sharky’s is now offering 20% off its Sharkarita. Who doesn’t love a deal?
And 20% off makes you think, this may be the time to enjoy more than one. This Frugal Foodie drinking deal will continue through March 2nd.
Also, something I didn’t know. The Sharky’s V.I.P. card gives you 5% off food purchases for dine-in and take-out. That deal has been happening for eight years now.
I thought it was only good for a coupon or two. Don’t forget that these deals are available at the Sharky’s in Edgartown too.
Skinny’s Fat Sandwiches
Skinny’s is open for lunch year-round and is a good option for a great sandwich. There are so many to chose from. There’s the classics, like a BLT or Tuna Melt or a Meatball Sub. There are specialties like their Buffalo Chicken, a Cuban or the Turkey Gobbler.
Seriously, there are about 20 sandwiches to choose from, not to mention the sides, which include fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks and more. You can even get fried dough, hello!
Where’s the Frugal Foodie deal here? Well, after 2 p.m., there’s a 10% discount for Islanders. Get your Skinny’s Fat card and you’re all set.
Since Skinny’s is open until 5 p.m., you might want to get some sandwiches to bring home for dinner. Aren’t you tired of cooking?
The Ocean View has been owned and operated by the Jackson family for over 30 years. Though I don’t visit the Ocean View often, I always enjoy it when I do. It’s full of locals, and I love the popcorn machine. Now that I have little ones, anywhere with popcorn is a good place.
Wednesday night is Lobster night. For $19.99, you can get a boiled or baked stuffed($1 more) lobster, rice or potato, and veggies. Seems like lobster would be good way to celebrate “Hump Day.”
Maybe you’re more of a meat person. The Ocean View’s Prime Rib night is Saturday, where the same $19.99 will get you a big ole honkin piece of prime rib and a potato or rice and veggies. This is a hearty meal, and not for the weak of heart.
So there you have some Frugal Foodie tips on stretching your dollar this winter season at some great places to eat in Oak Bluffs. Let me know if there’s a favorite I’ve missed. Also, I wanted to remind you that Linda Jean’s Restaurant is closed until March 6th.
