For The Frugal Foodies – The Best Dining Deals & Restaurant Specials On Martha’s Vineyard

With thoughts and hopes of spring in our heads, it’s time to get out of the office or leave the house to go out to eat. Grab some friends or the family, because we’ve got some great ways to make your dining dollars go a lot further.

We kick off our new Frugal Foodie feature with a look at Vineyard Haven.

Black Dog Tavern

The Black Dog Tavern Vineyard Haven Restaurant Frugal FoodieYou can sit and relax and take in the view of Vineyard Haven harbor, maybe even get a seat by the fire. Right now, it pays to live on Martha’s Vineyard.

At the Black Dog on Thursday nights you get 15% off your meal just as an Island resident. That’s 15% off your favorite meal, which in my case, is their yummy caramelized sea scallops with creamy polenta and sauteed spinach.

I should also mention that in addition to the discount, you also get a free cup of soup or a side salad if you order an entree. That’s a lot of food my friends.

Baked Stuffed Lobster Dinner Black Dog Restaurant Martha's Vineyard Frugal FoodieMaybe you’re busy on Thursday and that’s OK because Friday and Saturday might tempt you as well. Friday night is Lobstah night (lobster).

You can get  your 1.25-pound lobster boiled for $20 or baked and stuffed for $28. You get a little corn and a potato on the side, and with the water view, you might just forget that it’s February and not June. Just maybe. This is a really good deal if you’re a lobster fan. Thank you Mary Frietas for the delicious looking pic!

On Saturday night it’s Prime Rib Night. It’s the Black Dog’s special au jus that’s supposed to separate this prime rib from others, so I’ve heard. Of course it comes with a little starch and veggie to complete the dish.

Prime rib is not one of my personal favorites, so I’ll have to leave this to you to find out just how good it is. But hey, for $20 it’s a hearty meal at one of the Island’s iconic restaurants.

Vineyard Pizza

Vineyard Pizza Vineyard Haven Dining Deal Frugal FoodieResearching for this blog offered me the chance to go into Vineyard Pizza for the first time ever. I didn’t realize that it was the sister pizza shop to The Pizza Place in Edgartown.

Owner Will Craffey was behind the counter and took a couple minutes to chat with me about the deals they offer. He’s been making pizza on Martha’s Vineyard for 15 years!

Vineyard Pizza Owner Will Craffey Talks To Frugal FoodieThis was a sweet find I thought. In both locations you can get two slices of cheese pizza and a 20-ounce soda or a 12-ounce juice for $5 for lunch, seven-days-a-week, 363 days a year. Wanna make it pepperoni?  It’s $6.

Also, if you buy 8 pizzas and collect 8 magnets (you can get one every time you pick up your pie) you get a free large cheese pizza. For the family of four or if you’re a pizza lover, it can be pretty easy to get that free pizza.

Tisberry

Chicken & Sausage Jambalaya at Tisberry Vineyard Haven Lunch DealNew to the lunch world of Vineyard Haven, Tisberry offers a soup and salad combo for $9.99. Tisberry is open for lunch Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 – 4 p.m.

This is a great alternative for lunch because you can customize your salad, and we all like things our way. The soups vary but there’s usually one that is vegan and gluten free, and one that has meat in it. So, there’s a soup for everyone. Don’t forget your Island Club Card here.  For a full look at Tisberry, check out my earlier post

Rocco’s Pizzeria

Rocco's Pizzeria Vineyard Haven Restaurants Frugal FoodieAt Rocco’s one of the best things is the special lunch pizzas they offer. It seems like everyday there is some amazing pizza combo like bacon, egg, ham, tomato and onion (hold the onion for me). Seriously, that’s a fun pizza. Maybe that’s a little much.

That same day they had salami, feta, caramelized onions and garlic — one of the best combinations ever! There’s no combo deal here but you can save 10% with your Island Card.

Also, if you save 10 coupons from Rocco’s pizza boxes, you get a free large cheese pizza.

Just a reminder, the Art Cliff Diner is closed from February 17th until April.  So, if you’re looking for other places for breakfast and lunch you can check out Waterside Market (Island Club card welcomed),  and Littlehouse Cafe where you can also grab dinner.

There are some tips on how to stretch your dollar this Winter at some great places to eat in Vineyard Haven.  Let me know if there’s a favorite I’ve missed.

This is the first of my For the Frugal Foodies.  Oak Bluffs and Edgartown will be up soon.  Let me know if there’s a special you think I should mention in the blog.  Email me at guinevere@pointbrealty.com.
