Harvesting Fresh Bay Scallops By Hand On Martha's Vineyard

Our own Social Media Manager Guinevere Cramer decided to leave the comfort of her restaurant seat, and go hands-on, for the ultimate Bay Scallop food experience.

Along with the proper Bay Scallop fishing gear, you will need a shellfish license, issued from whatever town you’re going to be fishing in. If you’re going into the waters of Oak Bluffs, as Guinevere and Greg did, here’s the Oak Bluffs shellfish license link.  If you’re looking for Martha’s Vineyard restaurants that serve fresh Bay Scallops, check Fall and Winter menus at Beach Road in Vineyard Haven and Rockfish or Alchemy in Edgartown. And like all fishing, every season is a little different.
